- Public Health Image Library (PHIL)
PHIL is an extensive collection of still images, image sets, and multimedia files related to public health, created by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Only public domain images are freely available.
- Lung Health Image Library
A catalog of images detailing the challenges and successes of effots to improve lung health worldwide. Images may be used for any non-commercial purpose, but they may not be used, directly or indirectly, in part or in whole or in any shape and form whatsoever, in connection with the promotion of any specific company or product. - TDR Image Library
This database contains more than 11,000 images covering all aspects of the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases' (TDR) target diseases - African trypanosomiasis, Chagas disease, dengue, leishmaniasis, leprosy, lymphatic filariasis, malaria, onchocerciasis, schistosomiasis and tuberculosis.
- World Health Organization (WHO) Mediacentre Photos
Photos, displayed in galleries, are for general journalist use. They can be integrated into any news or magazine publication without WHO special agreement. Only the WHO source, the name, the name of the photographer have to be written in the publication.
- Africa Guide Photo Library

- Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) MediaBase
FAO's MediaBase provides instant access to more than 3,000 pictures of people, places and projects related to FAO's work. Photographs in the MediaBase are low-resolution images in jpeg format. Higher resolution pictures can be requested from the FAO Photo Library.
- IFAD through Photography
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is a specialized agency of the United Nations. Photographs may be reproduced with written permission of IFAD.
- IMAGES - The IDRC Photo Library
IMAGES is an online searchable database providing access to the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) photo library. The collection contains thousands of digitalized images taken by researchers and professional photographers on the general topic of economic and social development. Images may be downloaded and used, without modification or alteration, for personal use only. Prior written permission must be obtained from the International Development Research Centre for commercial or public use.
- PAHO Photo Gallery
The Media Center at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) has an extensive collection of photographs on a wide variety of subjects. Photos are free to use on the condition that credit be given to the Pan American Health Organization. (Low-res available for downloading, high-res available upon request).
- Photoshare
Photoshare, a service of the INFO Project at the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs, maintains an online photo collection created by and for international public health professionals for non-profit, educational use. Images available upon request.
- UNESCO Photobank
UNESCO’s online photolibrary displays thousands of photos on the Organization’s activities. Photobank is the indispensable tool for all those who are interested in UNESCO and in its programmes in the fields of Education, Social and Natural Sciences, Culture and Communication.
- USAID Africa Bureau Photo Library
This growing collection of photos taken by USAID staff and development partners reflects some of the many facets of USAID's work in Africa. Photos are available upon request for non-commercial and educational purposes only.
- Drik Photo Library
Drik picture library was set up in 1989 with the vision that photographers and writers from the developing world would be given a chance to portray their people and their cultures through their own eyes. Drik operates as a successful photo agency providing services to institutions, the Bangladesh Government, local companies, UN agencies and leading international publications. With a network of talented photographers across the region, the library provides in depth stories and analysis while retaining local relevance. Drik provides low-resolution pictures to view as per client requirements. If the client decides to use them, high-resolution files will be delivered for a fee.

- Global Aware (GA) International Image Database
Global Aware's member photographers are committed to using their images for the furthering of human rights, civil justice and democracy. GA's online database contains more than 10,000 images available for purchase directly from the photographers.
- Images from the History of Medicine (IHM)
IHM's online database provides access to 60,000 images in the prints and photograph collection of the History of Medicine Division (HMD) of the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). The collection includes portraits, pictures of institutions, caricatures, genre scenes, and graphic art, illustrating the social and historical aspects of medicine.
- Kids with Cameras
Kids with Cameras seeks to empower the children of Calcutta's red light district (such as those featured in Born into Brothels - Best Documentary, 77th Annual Acadmey Awards), through the art of photography. Images are available for purchase. All sales benefit the children's education.
- Photo Oikoumene - World Council of Churches
Photo Oikoumene specializes in photos related to church and society, supplying editors, journalists, agencies, publishers, audio-visual producers and other multipliers with pictures of professional quality that document the life of the ecumenical movement.
- United Nations Photo Library
This UN Photo web site contains a limited selection of the images in the UN Photo Library archives. Photographs depict the work of the UN and its specialized agencies in the field including peacekeeping, agriculture, health, natural resources, employment, industry, decolonization, education, environment, science and technology, housing, community development and community life.
- World Bank Photo Library
The World Bank has a collection of distinctive images that illustrate development in more than 70 countries. Over 11,000 high-quality images cover topics such as Agriculture & Rural Development, Education, Gender, Health, Trade, Water Supply and much more. Copies may be licensed for a fee.
- Worldview Images
Worldview's royalty-free stock images, avaiable for a licensing fee, cover a variety subjects in international development.
- M/MC Health Communication Materials Database
The Media/Materials Clearinghouse provides access to the world's most comprehensive and rapidly growing collection of health communication materials related to reproductive health, maternal child health, development and population worldwide. The collection includes calendars, flipcharts, kits, posters, pamphlets, novelty items, videos and training materials. Database records include information on materials, images, PDF files, audio and video clips.

Polio Eradication Photo Documentary
The photographs were taken between 1997 and 2001 by Ellyn W. Ogden, MPH, the Worldwide Polio Eradication Coordinator for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), while observing national immunization days and other polio activities on behalf of USAID’s Polio Eradication Initiative.
